Believing in Beverly: 'The Cher Show' at NSMT is a Stunning Spectacle!

Sara Gettelfinger leads a non-stop, two-hour spectacle of dazzling costumes, superb vocals, and lighting-fast changes.

Last night, The Cher Show officially opened at the North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) in Beverly, Massachusetts, promising a glitzy journey through the life and career of the Goddess of Pop. Playing through November 2nd, 2025, this production is far more than a jukebox musical—it is a non-stop, visually stunning experience anchored by a truly phenomenal lead.

The heart of the show is, without a doubt, Sara Gettelfinger. Her embodiment of Cher is nothing short of extraordinary. She was absolutely stunning in the costumes that the North Shore Theater used, channeling Cher's iconic, boundary-pushing style with flair. More impressive, however, is her vocal performance: Gettelfinger possesses an amazing voice and lead vocal range that was superb, effortlessly navigating the decades of Cher’s hits from pop anthems to rock ballads.

The show is a masterclass in theatrical energy. Even though the performance runs well over two hours long, the electric pace and dazzling pace ensure the energy never dips. The costume changes are so fast that the show never feels boring; you constantly find yourself captivated, looking for somewhere else on set to look. This dynamic staging prevents the long runtime from dragging, making the entire experience fly by.

The supporting cast provides the emotional grounding necessary for Cher’s complex story. Frankie Marasa, as Sonny, brought depth and sincerity, pulling the entire show together so that you felt like you were just a fly on the wall through their entire relationship. Furthermore, the ensemble of Chers is equally talented. Charssa Hogland, who played Lady, had amazing acting ability, capturing a crucial aspect of Cher’s evolving persona. And rounding out the trio, Madeline Hudelson had it all, delivering such a powerful performance that you would almost believe that this show was like being at a Cher concert.

From the minute the show opened with powerhouse numbers like “If I Could Turn Back Time,” “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Living in a House Divided,” and “I Found Someone,” the audience was immediately hooked. This show will have you captivated from beginning to end.
