• Easthampton Housing Authority names Sekula its new executive director (thereminder.com) — Easthampton residents who rely on public housing will soon see new leadership, as former mayoral executive assistant and recent mayoral candidate Lindsi Sekula has been appointed executive director of the Easthampton Housing Authority after a yearlong vacancy. Sekula, who once lived in subsidized housing herself, says she’ll focus on stability, transparency, and rebuilding trust with tenants while working closely with state housing officials.

A local naturalist explains how these brilliantly colored birds rely on old woodpecker holes, incubate large clutches high above the forest floor, and then guide their fluffy young on surprisingly long hikes to nearby water.
