One of the many legacies left by the late Kent J. Riley is the creation of a fund designed to support local college-bound athletes. Kent was a tireless supporter of Lexington and Bedford youth sports, and when not on duty as a medical physicist at Massachusetts General Hospital, he could often be found coaching his children&rsquo;s hockey teams. Following his much too early passing in June 2014, his family and friends established the Kent J. Riley Charitable Fund (a federally-recognized 501(c)(3) organization) in his honor. In the last ten years the Fund has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships designed for Lexington and Bedford students who participated in youth sports and planned to major in a STEM, medical, or health field of study. The Fund will award multiple scholarships worth up to $5,000 each in 2026.
