• Burge presides over VFW Auxiliary state council meeting (westplainsdailyquill.net) — Poplar Bluff’s VA hospital is one of four in Missouri receiving part of 175 backpacks collected for homeless veterans during a recent statewide VFW Auxiliary meeting. The council session at Lake of the Ozarks also featured training, student essay winners, and recognition of Teachers of the Year and youth scholarship honorees. 
• Betty 'Colleen' Minton (dailyjournalonline.com) — Poplar Bluff readers may recognize the Johnson family as they mourn Betty “Colleen” Minton, whose daughter Cathy Johnson lives in Poplar Bluff. Colleen, a longtime child caregiver and Farmington Elks Lodge member, passed away March 26 at age 91. A celebration of her life is set for Sunday, April 12, at Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington, with private inurnment to follow.
