OCEAN COUNTY, NJ โ As Halloween approaches, there's plenty of spooky fun to be had in Ocean County. From trunk or treats for the kids to vendor fairs for the adults, there's something for everyone.
If you're looking to indulge in some autumnal fun this weekend, check out these five events in Ocean County.
Operation Halloween

- When: Oct. 24 and 25, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Where: Citta Boy Scout Camp, Brookville Road, Barnegat
- What: This annual event offers spooky, family-friendly fun over two days. There's free fun for young children along with some paid activities like inflatables, hayrides and pumpkin painting. There's also a "haunted walk" and "Terror in the Pines." See details here.
Moonlight Market
- When: Oct. 24, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Where: The Union Market, 120 W. Main St., Tuckerton
- What: Browse local artisans and vendors at this free event, hosted by Bellarine Theatre Company. At 7 p.m., grab a ticket for their screening of "Hocus Pocus."
17th Annual Furfest

- When: Oct. 25, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Where: Southern Ocean County Animal Facility, 360 Haywood Road, Manahawkin
- What: Dress your furry friends up for the parade and costume contest that benefits the animal shelter. Prizes and ribbons will be given out in a variety of categories. Check out the adoptable animals while you're there.
Fall Fest
- When: Oct. 25, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Where: Proving Ground Church, 1 Proving Ground Road, Lakehurst
- What: Enjoy a free day of fall fun with lots to enjoy. A trunk or treat, hay maze, crafts and games, cider and donuts, pumpkin trail and more are all part of this festival.
Haunt the Downtown
- When: Oct. 25, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Where: Downtown Toms River
- What: Downtown gets spooky on Saturday with trick or treating, a kids costume contest, live music, face painting and of course, the chance to support local businesses. Don't forget to check out the Scarecrow Walk while you're there.
