HOBOKEN, NJ — There were lions and tigers and bears — and Ninja Turtles. Hoboken's Ragamuffin Parade kicked off on time, and everyone followed the yellow brick...the yellow line down Washington Street.

Traffic Impacts

The city said the following about buses and traffic:

  • Vehicular traffic on Washington Street, and intersecting side streets, will be diverted on a rolling basis, the city said.
  • Northbound NJ Transit buses will operate on Bloomfield Street, and southbound buses will operate on Hudson Street.
  • The Hoboken Police Department anticipates heavy traffic entering and exiting Hoboken on Halloween night, particularly between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., and strongly encourages revelers to leave their cars at home.

Halloween Safety Reminders

The city gave these safety reminders:

  • Drivers should reduce their speed, be alert for trick-or-treaters, turn on headlights, and stop before crosswalks.
  • The city does not permit block parties on Halloween.
  • Residents are reminded to walk on sidewalks and to cross streets only in crosswalks.
  • Those who must drive are reminded to use a designated driver. The HPD maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding driving while intoxicated, and violators will be fully prosecuted.
