• News of the Weird: Week of 04/02/26 (memphisflyer.com) — Phillipsburg officials declared a local emergency after multiple sinkholes opened, swallowing a dump truck and a car and forcing evacuations of eight homes. Crews found several underground voids with radar, and the damaged water main can’t be fixed until the trapped truck is removed. The emergency order lets the town tap resources more quickly while they stabilize the area. 
• Man wanted on drug charge in Phillipsburg (newportdispatch.com) — Phillipsburg police are asking for help finding a 29-year-old man who skipped court after a local drug arrest and is now wanted on a bench warrant. Officers say he may be in Irvington or Columbia, South Carolina, and provide a detailed description. Anyone with information can anonymously call the Phillipsburg Police Department tip line.
• Tiny school district that sends students to P'burg high among biggest losers in N.J. funding plan (lehighvalleylive.com) — A tiny Warren County district that sends its students to Phillipsburg High School is among eight New Jersey school systems facing state aid cuts above 3% under Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s proposed budget. While overall K-12 funding would hit a record, shifting formulas for school choice and special education aid mean some small districts may need to trim services or staffing.
