Newark Man Sentenced For Slaying In The Oranges 5 Years Ago
The victim was shot in the back – killing him instantly, Essex County prosecutors said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An Essex County resident will likely serve life in prison after he fatally shot a man in the back nearly five years ago in the Oranges, prosecutors announced Monday.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a jury convicted Marcus Wright, 34, of Newark, on first-degree murder and weapons charges in May.
Prosecutors said that Wright pulled a handgun on Wisguen Marc, 25, on the 100-block of Main Street in Orange on Nov. 20, 2020. After a brief argument, he shot Marc in the back – killing him instantly.

Under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, Wright must serve 85 percent of his sentence – 63 years and 9 months – before he is eligible for parole, prosecutors said.
