West Orange Cops Promoted, New Probationary Firefighter Sworn In

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Several West Orange police officers were promoted and a probationary firefighter was sworn in during a ceremony at Town Hall last week.

The event took place in the council chambers on Oct. 8, and included attendance from family, friends and supporters.

According to the township, the newly promoted police officers include:

  • Thomas McManus — promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant
  • Michael Paglucci — promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant
  • Ryan Dwyer — promoted from Police Officer to Sergeant
  • Herbert Granados — promoted from Police Officer to Sergeant
  • Austin Vanderhoof — promoted from Police Officer to Sergeant

“Each of the newly promoted officers has demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism throughout their careers, earning multiple distinctions such as Command Citations, Medals of Merit, Unit Citations, Medals of Excellence, and Life Saving Awards,” the township stated in a news release.

“Their collective record of education, training, and service reflects WOPD’s ongoing commitment to public safety and excellence in policing,” township officials added.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

The ceremony also included the swearing-in of probationary firefighter Jimmy Phillipe.

Phillipe joins the West Orange Fire Department after completing training at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy. He is scheduled to attend EMT certification training in early 2026 as part of his continued professional development.
