Man Arrested After Trying To Steal $22K Watch From Nassau Store: Police

He also had fake ID, police say.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Queens man was arrested after he trying to steal a $22,000 watch from a store in Massapequa Tuesday, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the incident took place at 3:15 p.m.; officers responded to a call about a theft at Collectors Corner Coins and Jewelry, located at 400 Sunrise Highway, police said.

Upon arrival, officers determined that Adam Cornel, 47, of Woodhaven, took the watch from a table and concealed it in his bag, police said. He was placed under arrest at the scene without incident, police said. He was also found to be in possession of fraudulent identification, police said.

Cornel was charged with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said. He will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
