SKIPPACK TOWNSHIP, PA — The Skippack Township supervisor who has been charged with child sex abuse and numerous related counts has officially resigned from his position, the board confirmed this week.

Nick Fountain, 38, of Collegeville, had served on the board for 12 years. He's also a recent candidate for state senate in Montgomery County and owned two daycare centers in the area.

"The actions alleged in those charges have no place in our community, in Montgomery County or anywhere else, and we vehemently condemn such behavior," the Skippack Township Board of Supervisors shared. "Our thoughts are with anyone impacted by these allegations. We called for Mr. Fountain to resign from the Board of Supervisors and recently received his letter of resignation."

They added that they are cooperating in the police investigation.

Two separate sets of charges have been filed against Fountain. The first emerged from Harford County, Maryland, and involved child pornography and soliciting sex from a minor.

The second came from the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and involved abuse of a child victim over the course of years, from the time the child was 9 years old to 16 years old, officials said.

Fountain was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 15.
