Police Investigate Fraud, Scams, And Accidents In Northampton
The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Oct. 6 and 12.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Oct. 6 and 12:
Oct. 6
- Traffic Accident (Deer Involved) - Patrol responded to the 600 block of Hatboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Hatboro Road when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, unit 1 and the deer made contact. Tow was not required.

- Scam - A resident came into the police station to report a scam. The resident reported that they received a letter in the mail stating that there was a lien on their home and that they owed money. The resident followed up and confirmed no lien. They then called the number in the letter and after telling the person on the phone there was no lien, they were hung up on. Information was gathered.
Oct. 8
- Disabled Vehicle - Patrol responded to the area of East Pickering Bend and Newtown-Richboro Road for a disabled vehicle. Once on location, contact was made with the driver who reported that the vehicle would not start. Patrol assisted with getting the vehicle started for the driver.

- Found Animal (Dog) Patrol responded to the area of Chapel Drive for the report of a found dog. Once on location, patrol transported the dog to a nearby kennel. After a short period of time, the owner was identified.
Oct. 10
- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of West Bristol Road and Hatboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was disabled on West Bristol Road when it was struck by unit 1 which was traveling on the same roadway. Tow was required.
Oct. 11
- Disabled Vehicle - Patrol responded to the area of Holland Road and Churchville Lane. Once on location, there was a vehicle found that was disabled. The vehicle was able to be relocated off from the roadway for a private tow.
Oct. 12
- Fraud - A resident reported that they received an email thanking them for opening a store card and making a purchase. The resident contacted the company and found that an unknown person used their information to open an account and make purchases. The card was able to be closed, and the complainant was not liable for the charges. Information was gathered.
During this tour, patrol handled 18 alarm calls; 14 abandoned 911 calls; 35 medical emergencies; 14 bookings; 2 domestic disputes; 10 civil disputes; 77 traffic monitoring details and 18 crime prevention details.
