Phoenix Animal Rescue is looking for kennel volunteers as longtime volunteer Amanda Hiett prepares to move at the end of the year.
Amanda, our March Unsung Hero, has been part of the quiet, steady work that helps dogs feel safe while they wait for adoption &mdash; saying good morning to them, letting them out, and cleaning their temporary homes.
As Amanda gets ready to leave, Phoenix Animal Rescue is looking for others in the community who may be willing to step in and help.

Phoenix Animal Rescue needs help to replace Amanda!

Meet Amanda Hiett.
Every morning at 5:30 am &mdash; before most of us had our first cup of coffee &mdash; Amanda walks through the doors of Phoenix Animal Rescue, lets out 44 dogs, and cleans their kennels.
She calls the kennels her happy place. Most people just see dirty kennels, but they'd be missing the point.
Amanda and her fellow kennel volunteers are the rescue's first eyes &mdash; the unseen early warning system that notices a dog not eating, a sore paw, or a spirit that seems dimmed.
And then there are the puppy mill mamas. They arrive broken, unloved, and uncertain that humans can be trusted.
Then Amanda shows up&mdash;every morning&mdash;and helps save their lives by teaching them to trust.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear rubber gloves and work boots &mdash; quietly making the ground green.

As founder of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mainlinemurals/?hl=en" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Main Line Mural Arts</a>, Stacey gives young artists the chance to learn mural painting &mdash; and put that craft to work right here in town.
At the Berwyn Public Library, she runs Santa Letters, personally writing back to every child who sends a letter to Santa.
As president of <a href="https://eadeh.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Eadeh Enterprises</a>, Stacey embraced founder Ernest's commitment to community, launching the Berwyn Farmers Market &mdash; now the town's social heartbeat.
And every holiday season, she lights Berwyn's shops and buildings like something straight out of a Hallmark movie, including a tree lighting at the train station that brings the whole town together.
Murals, Santa letters, a farmers market, strings of holiday lights &mdash; one person flipped the switch and now we all see Berwyn's true potential for community.
