The Thursday Club

Walden Family Services will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the “There’s No Place Like Home” Gala on April 30, 2026, at the historic Thursday Club in San Diego. Set against an ocean-view backdrop, the evening will bring together community leaders, supporters, and partners to benefit housing and supportive services for foster youth.&nbsp;
Inspired by the Wizard of Oz, the gala will feature themed décor, live entertainment including performances by Mariam T and her queens, and a menu by Behind the Scenes Catering. Proceeds will support Transitional Age Youth as they move toward independence, providing stable housing, life skills, and critical resources.&nbsp;
The event honors five decades of impact while investing in the future of youth aging out of foster care. Tickets are $250, with tables of 10 available for $2,500. The GI Film Festival San Diego returns May 6–8, 2026, to the Museum of Photographic Arts at the San Diego Museum of Art (MOPA @ SDMA) in Balboa Park with three days of powerful films for, by, and about the military community.&nbsp;
This year’s festival will feature 15 films exploring service, sacrifice, and the lived experiences of veterans and service members, including world, West Coast, and San Diego premieres. Each screening includes a post-film panel discussion with filmmakers, veterans, and subject-matter experts, giving audiences the opportunity to engage with the stories and themes presented on screen.&nbsp;

Mama’s Kitchen is hosting its 35th annual Mama’s Day fundraiser on Saturday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. This beloved culinary event features restaurants, chefs, and culinary artists from across San Diego, coming together to raise funds for <a href="https://mamaskitchen.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Mama’s Kitchen’s</a> medically tailored home-delivered meal program. Attendees of the event get to soak in scenic bay views as they taste unlimited bites from the participating culinary partners, which include upscale restaurants, iconic cafes, artisan bakeries, beloved pizza joints, and many more. In addition to incredible food, guests can enjoy live music, pop-up booths, opportunity drawings, and a photo booth to capture all the fun. All proceeds from Mama’s Day are funneled directly to Mama’s Kitchen’s medically-tailored meal delivery services, allowing for more critically ill San Diegans to receive free, nutrition-rich meals. Early bird ticket sales for Mama’s Day begin Friday, March 20 for $150 before regular-priced tickets go on sale for $200 on Friday, March 27.
