📰 News we're reading

• Tillman Honor Run set for April 18 (cottonwoodheightsjournal.com) — Cottonwood Heights residents can join the Tillman Honor Run on April 18, starting 9 a.m. at Alpha Coffee near Big Cottonwood Canyon. The 4.2-mile event honors Pat Tillman, welcomes all abilities, and raises scholarship funds through the Tillman Foundation, with post-run food and community time for those who’d rather just gather and support.

• Arson ruled out as cause of 'castle' home fire in Cottonwood Heights (fox13now.com) — Fire officials say last week’s dramatic blaze that destroyed a large “castle-like” home along the Willow Creek Country Club in Cottonwood Heights was accidental, not arson. Unified Fire Authority is still determining the exact cause and tallying damage, but no injuries were reported despite video showing what appeared to be an explosion from trapped gases in the burning structure.

• Democrats try a new tactic to win a House seat in Utah — running as progressives in a red state (fox13now.com) — A politically engaged 17-year-old from Cottonwood Heights is weighing in on Utah’s newly redrawn, Democrat-leaning 1st Congressional District, where candidates are competing to be the most progressive. The story follows Ben McAdams’ shift left as he seeks a comeback, and highlights how young voters across the Salt Lake Valley may shape this high-stakes primary.
