• New-look Salem Ridgeyaks practice locally for the first time ahead of opening night (wdbj7.com) — Salem baseball fans can catch the newly rebranded Salem Ridgeyaks at opening night this Thursday, April 2, 6:30 p.m. at Salem Memorial Ballpark, kicking off a nine-game home stand. With a young, promising pitching staff, appearances from Mugsy and new mascot Mac the Yak, and top draft pick Brandon Neely debuting, the club is aiming to energize local crowds. 
• Pulaski adult day service center seeks state help after veterans feel VA cuts (wdbj7.com) — Veterans in our region who rely on the Salem VA are seeing their adult day care coverage cut from five days a week to just two, leaving some unable to afford needed support. A Pulaski County adult day service is temporarily “scholarshipping” veterans’ extra days and has asked Rep. Morgan Griffith to push for restoring the lost benefits, which could affect Salem-area veterans and families as well.
