• Town seeks voluntary water conservation (farmvilleherald.com) — Appomattox water customers are being asked to voluntarily cut back usage after regional drought conditions led Campbell County Utilities to trigger Stage 1 conservation. While service and water quality aren’t affected, the town urges residents and businesses to follow simple indoor and outdoor conservation steps now to help avoid stricter limits later. 
• Lynchburg District Weekly Traffic Alert July 27-August 2, 2026 Virginia Department of Transportation (virginia.gov) — Drivers in and around Appomattox should expect delays on the Route 460 Appomattox Bypass, where westbound lanes are reduced and speeds cut to 45 mph for reconstruction through December 2026. VDOT’s latest Lynchburg District update also outlines other regional work zones that could affect Appomattox commuters this coming week.
• Champions named at 2026 National Junior Angus Show (oklahomafarmreport.com) — An Appomattox-based junior cattle exhibitor, Madison Stratton, earned reserve grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair honors at the 2026 National Junior Angus Show in Louisville, Kentucky. Her pair, K & J CCW Lady 9172 and an October 2025 bull calf, first won champion mature pair. The weeklong show drew more than 1,000 Angus juniors and nearly 1,000 cattle entries from across the country.
