• Back to School Support (salvationarmyusa.org) — Families in Suffolk can get free backpacks and school supplies at The Salvation Army’s Suffolk Corps, 400 Bank St., on August 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. The Write Stuff initiative serves K–12 students in Suffolk and Western Tidewater, with additional distribution dates in Norfolk and Portsmouth and clear documentation requirements for parents or guardians.
   

• Multiple Hampton Roads communities awarded over $14 million for trail and sidewalk projects across the region (wtkr.com) — Suffolk is receiving over $4.6 million to extend the Seaboard Coastline Trail west and build a multi-use path along Route 17, part of $14.4 million awarded for Hampton Roads trail and sidewalk projects. These upgrades will improve local recreation options, bike and pedestrian connectivity, and safety, especially along busy corridors and near schools across the region.
   

• Thalhimer wins Virginia top real estate deal honors (starexponent.com) — Two major Suffolk projects—the Port 460 Logistics Center on Pruden Boulevard and Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center on Bon Secours Drive—have been named among Virginia’s top real estate deals and projects. The statewide recognition highlights Suffolk’s growing role in logistics, health care, and commercial development as part of Virginia Business’s new awards program.
