FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax County police released additional details Friday morning about the search for a teenage suspect who had escaped from police in the City of Fairfax on Thursday afternoon.

The 17-year-old suspect was in custody for trespassing and possession of Schedule I/II narcotics, when he fled from a county police officer around 3 p.m. in the 4300 block of Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax City, according police.

City of Fairfax police issued an alert and assisted in the search for the suspect in the School Street and Chain Bridge Road area, according to a public information officer with city police.

"We do not believe the suspect is armed at this time," according to a Fairfax City police post on Facebook. "We also believe that there is no active threat to the public."

"Officers and additional resources quickly responded, and the juvenile was located a short time later and taken back into custody," according to FCPD.
