• Tysons to Manhattan without an airport? This plane could do it (wtop.com) — A Manassas-based aviation company is developing a short-takeoff hybrid-electric plane that could one day fly passengers directly from Tysons Corner parking garages to places like Manhattan, bypassing traditional airports. The EL9 “Ultra Short” aircraft would use rooftop or small-field launch points for regional trips of 50 to 250 miles, aiming to ease congested corridors like I-95 while keeping noise levels below a typical helicopter.
