Runner Hit By Car, Declines Hospital Transport: Oswego Police

The runner sustained minor injuries after a car hit him while he was running, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — A runner was struck by a car Thursday morning at the intersection of Versailles Parkway and Fifth Street, Oswego police said.

A 57-year-old man sustained minor injuries in the crash that occurred at about 11:43 a.m. but declined further medical attention, officials said in Friday's blotter.

A Mazda CX-5, driven by a 40-year-old Oswego man, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection. When he proceeded to turn right onto southbound Fifth Street, he hit the runner, who was jogging at “a slow speed with the driver’s side mirror,” spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.
