FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 37-year-old employee of a Fairfax City auto dealership was arrested on Sept. 1 for threatening to shoot a coworker with a firearm, according to the weekly crime report.

Officers responded around 10:44 a.m. to the DARCARS Volvo at 11050 Fairfax Blvd. for the report of an employee verbally threatening to shoot another employee during an argument, the report says.

The officers located the suspect nearby, whom the identified as Abtin Jalaee of Fairfax. Jalaee was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charge with threatening to discharge a firearm, according to police. He was then held without bond.

Jalaee was arraigned on Sept. 2 in Fairfax County General District Court and released on his own recognizance following a Sept. 3 bond hearing, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. on Dec. 8.

If Jalaee is found guilty on the verbally threatening to discharge a firearm charge, which is a Class 5 felony, he could face a minimum of one to 10 years in prison, according to the Virginia Code. The charge could also be dropped down to a misdemeanor, in which case he faces up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
