FAIRFAX, VA — Virginia State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or taken video of Saturday night's fatal crash on I-66 in Fairfax County to contact the person investigating the incident, according to authorities.

Around 5:51 p.m., 20-year-old Will R. Hernandez-Villalta of Manassas stopped his 1996 Nissan pickup truck in one of the travel lanes on westbound I-66 due to a mechanical issue, according to the police report. The truck was then stuck by a 2016 Honda Pilot.

“The collision caused the pickup to run off of the left side of main travel lanes, strike the bollards separating the main lanes and the Express Lanes, and then cross the Express Lanes,” according to state police. “The pickup then came to rest on the left shoulder and caught fire. The Pilot spun and came to rest in the main travel lanes.”

Hernandez-Villalta was declared dead at the scene, according to police. The driver of the Pilot, identified as 38-year-old Danielle M. McKinnon of Chantilly, and a juvenile passenger received minor injuries, according to police. Charges are pending the results of the investigation.
