Fake Firefighter Tries To Enter Fairfax Fire Station: Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 28-year-old Manassas man who was posing as a Washington, D.C. firefighter was arrested after he tried to enter a Fairfax City fire station on Wednesday evening, according to police.

City of Fairfax police officers responded around 6:45 p.m. to Fire Station 3 at 4081 University Drive for the report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated trying to enter the station, according to the incident report.

The suspect, identified as Waleed Sadozai of Manassas, told police that he was a firefighter in the District. Investigators confirmed that Sadozai was intoxicated and that he was not a member of the DC Fire and EMS Department.

Sadozai was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with impersonating a firefighter and being drunk in public, according to police. He was then held until sober and released on an unsecured bond.

Sadozi has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 in Fairfax City General District Court, according to court records.

The impersonating a firefighter charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a potential punishment of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia. The drunk in public charge is a Class 4 misdemeanor. If convicted on this charge, Sadozi could be ordered to pay a fine of up to $250.
