Man With Knife Threatens Dog Walker In Fairfax City: Police
City of Fairfax police arrested a man they say threatened someone walking their dog with a knife in Kamp Washington on Tuesday.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — On Thursday, City of Fairfax Police arrested a 19-year-old man who they say attacked and threatened someone walking their dog Tuesday evening in Kamp Washington.
Officers responded around 7:43 p.m. for the report of a weapons violation in the 4000 block of Gateway Drive. A preliminary investigation determined that while the victim was walking their dog, an unknown man exited the elevator of a building and ran toward them with a knife, according to the incident report. After threatening the victim, the man fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
Investigators identified Gervin Cruz-Corea of Fairfax as the suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to police.

Cruz-Corea was arrested on Thursday and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with assault and battery, according to police. He was then held without bond.

Cruz-Corea was arraigned on Friday morning in Fairfax City General District Court and has a preliminary hearing set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 21., according to court records.
The assault and battery charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor. If Cruz-Corea is found guilty, he faces a possible maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.
