Pointing Gun During Traffic Dispute Leads To VA Man's Arrest: Police

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 56-year-old Fairfax man is facing an assault and battery charge after he pointed a firearm at another person during a traffic dispute on Oct. 7, according to City of Fairfax police.

Officers responded around 10:09 a.m. to the 11000 block of Westmore Drive to speak with the person who had filed the report, according to police The victim told the officers that the unknown man who had pointed the firearm at them had fled the area.

Through their investigation, the officers identified Paul Nguyen of Fairfax as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest, according to police.

After serving Nguyen with the warrants, the officers took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with assault and battery, reckless handling of a firearm, and brandishing firearm, according to police. He was then released on an unsecured bond.

Nguyen is due back in court at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 for a preliminary hearing, according to court records.

All three charges are Class 1 misdemeanors, which each care a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the code of Virginia.
