Fire Extinguished At Apartment Complex East Of Fairfax City

Fire crews from both Fairfax City and Fairfax County extinguished a burning sofa Tuesday morning inside an apartment building.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fire and rescue crews from the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department and Fairfax County's Merrifield station extinguished a sofa fire Tuesday morning at an apartment complex east of the city.

Fire units were dispatched around 10:51 a.m. after a fire alarm was activated in the 9410 block of Route 29 in the Trillium Apartments, according Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Arriving on the scene, firefighters found a sofa on fire in one of the apartments, which was quickly extinguished. During the incident, residents of the building were evacuated to the complex's parking lot.
