FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 31-year-old Fairfax City man accused of threatening a bank employee with a gun faces a possible prison sentence, according to court records.

City of Fairfax Police responded around 10:16 a.m. on Thursday to the TD Bank at 11098 Fairfax Blvd. for the report of a threat, according to the incident report.

The person who filed the report told officers that a customer threatened to return to the bank with a gun after arguing with an employee, according to police. The officers located the suspect nearby, identifying him as Scott Wood of Fairfax.

Wood was arrested and charged with making a threat with a firearm, according to police. He was then held without bail at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to police.

On Friday, Wood was arraigned in Fairfax County General District Court and released on his own recognizance, according to court records. A preliminary hearing was set for 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.

If convicted of making a threat with a firearm, which is a Class 5 felony, Wood faces a potential sentence of one to three years in prison and fines, under the Code of Virginia.
