• Police chase ends when officers force vehicle off the road (wgtjradio.com) — Drivers in Demorest may have noticed sirens Thursday night as deputies chased a pickup that fled a traffic stop on Central Avenue and briefly stopped at a Piedmont University lot. The pursuit continued onto Ga. 365 and U.S. 441 Bypass in Cornelia, where officers used a PIT maneuver to end it. No one was hurt, and the driver was arrested on traffic and drug charges. 
• Habersham deputies searching for registered sex offender (nowgeorgia.com) — Law enforcement is asking Demorest-area residents to help locate a registered sex offender who failed to update his address after previously living in Demorest. The 55-year-old man is believed to have ties across Habersham and nearby counties. Anyone who may see him is urged to call the sheriff’s tip line or the county’s non-emergency 911 number.
• UPDATE: Chase suspect facing kidnapping, 10 other charges (wgtjradio.com) — A traffic stop on Central Avenue in Demorest escalated into a chase that ended on the 441 Bypass, and the driver now faces kidnapping and multiple other felony and misdemeanor charges. Deputies say the suspect briefly stopped in a Piedmont University lot before fleeing toward Cornelia. No injuries were reported, though southbound 441 Bypass lanes were temporarily closed during the investigation.
