• Emergency Squad Employee Charged After A Tortuous Trail (thecreweburkevillejournal.com) — A Blackstone resident who works for the Nottoway Emergency Squad was charged with public intoxication after deputies twice responded to a disturbance call and later learned an emergency vehicle had been used without authorization. The sheriff also noted several calls about smoke in the Blackstone, Burkeville, and Crewe areas, possibly linked to activity at the nearby military base.
